Intellectual Property Nuances in Video Games

The guiding principles of copyright, trademark, and patent law are all well established, especially for practicing attorneys in the field. However, the application of these legal protections to the new interactive media of video games is still evolving, and features many nuances. Join Ross A. Hersemann, a Chicago-based video game law practitioner, for this informative talk detailing examples of how video games pose unique problems to IP attorneys and require new applications of settled legal practices.

Presenter:  Ross A. Hersemann
Ross is an attorney, writer, and gamer. He is the Founder of Loading Law, a Chicago-based law practice, and provides legal counsel to video game developers and entrepreneurs in the tech sector. Ross is also the Organizer of the Chicago Video Game Law Summit and an Adjunct Professor of Video Game Law at DePaul University. He speaks frequently on hot topics in law and technology and his book on Video Game Law will be published in 2018. Ross also serves as Co-Chair of the CBA YLS Creative Arts Committee, Vice Chair of IGDA-Chicago, and Board President of the VGA Gallery.
