Milwaukee County Family Division and GAL Improvement Project Workgroup Announces a Mandatory Program

The Milwaukee County Family Division and the GAL Improvement Project Workgroup announce a mandatory program entitled “GAL Practice and Court Expectations” on May 10, 2019. The program will run from noon until 3:00pm at the new Milwaukee Bar Association office at 747 North Broadway, Milwaukee, WI. This program will include a review of the basic expectations judges have of GALS, a presentation regarding interviewing children by Dr. Casey Holtz, and a judicial panel discussion. Attendees will be provided a flash drive containing the State Bar Family Law Section Guidelines, related forms, and other useful materials.

Anyone currently on the Milwaukee County GAL list who plans to stay on the list is required to attend. Anyone not currently on the list but who intends to apply for inclusion on the list for 2019-2020 should also attend. Given the program’s mandatory nature, there is no cost to attend. Due to room size and resource limitations, we cannot accommodate others who might wish to attend. People unable to attend will be required to view the program online at a later time.

Lunch will not be provided. Please RSVP by e-mailing Sherry Jackson at no later than May 3rd. If you are unable to attend please give Sherry your specific reason and make alternative arrangements. CLE credits will be applied for. Additional materials will be sent out in a future e-mail. For your reference, the guidelines can be found here.
