Civil Litigation: Big Changes to Wisconsin Law and Civil Procedure
Presenter:  Ryan M. Billings, Kohner, Mann & Kailas, S.C.

In April, the Wisconsin legislature passed 2017 WIS Act 235. The Act substantially amends Wisconsin Civil Procedure and makes several other significant changes to Wisconsin law. Some of the provisions adopt recent amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (including the “proportionality” standard from the 2015 Federal Rules amendments), and others strike new ground. This program will provide an in-depth look at the new requirements and standards, and discuss how the Act is likely to affect civil practice. All of the changes will apply to cases filed on or after July 1, 2018, and some are already effective. Come and learn what the future holds for civil practice in Wisconsin state court.
